DOW JONES INDUSTRIAL AVERAGE

Introduction:

The company’s co-founder Charles Dow and Wall Street Journal editor Dow Jones both of the nineteenth-century established a stock market index called as the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which was also referred as Dow 30, DJI, and DJIA.  The index was accumulated by Dow as a measure to estimate the routine of the industrial component of America’s stock markets.  Apart from Dow Jones Transportation Average formed by Dow, the market index is considered as one of the oldest in the U.S.  Currently in the United States 30 of the biggest and broadly organized public companies are operated through Dow Jones Industrial Average.  The index at present is considered as a balance average and not the real value of the price of its constituent stocks, to repay for the consequences of stock splits and various adjustments.  To produce the value of the index the figure of the component price is divided by a divisor that alters with excess of time.

History:

In 1987, the Dow was knocked down to 22.61% on Black Monday as it is called.  It rose to 10.15% two days later.  Post the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Dow once again dropped to 14.3%.  The interactions were shut down between September 10th and September 17th, and averages of twelve stocks from various crucial American industries were symbolized by Dow.  The General Electric remains as a division of average from the original twelve stocks.  The index climbed to 40.94 when it was printed initially.  The summer of 1896 witnessed an all-time low score of the stocks at 28.48.
